Club athletics are another great opportunity for young athletes to extend their careers into their college years. They particularly thrive in sports where there are fewer division one programs than average, such as lacrosse and hockey. That being said, there are incredibly talented athletes across the country who might have passed up an opportunity to play their sport at the varsity level, but maybe did not like the level of academics at that school or did not want to pass up the option to attend their dream school. This is why the level of club athletics tends to be fairly high, especially at UNC and schools that are similar.
Ayden Jersey is a member of the club golf team at UNC, and has thoroughly enjoyed his time in the program. Ayden could have played varsity college golf, however he did not feel like he wanted to be anywhere other than Chapel Hill. Ayden explains his journey, and gives a few tidbits about the UNC Club Golf program in the following interview.
